Manchester Prairie Dogs Line Dance Club was established over 11 years ago.
The clubs membership is drawn mainly, but not exclusively, from the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender community and membership is open to all regardless of sexual orientation, ethnic origin, age or gender.
The club provides weekly line dance sessions and organises a range of social activities.
The club is a not-for-profit group - one which solicits the help of the community in order to benefit the community. The Officers, Committee and teachers are all volunteers who have no desire for any personal financial benefit. All proceeds are channelled back into the various activities of the group and LGBT charities. As a not-for-profit group, Manchester Prairie Dogs is as strong as the community that supports it.
The club is operated on a self-financing basis with dancers paying an annual membership fee and weekly door fees but you do not have to be a member of the club to take part in its activities
Increasingly, club members are invited to perform at a range of events such as:
The Gay International Travel Convention
“Dancing in the Streets” Festival MBC
Sheffield University GLA weekend
“In Manchester” promotions
Oldham Diversity Festival
Manchester Pride Games
Charity Fundraisers
Blackpool Pride
Oldham Pride
Our biggest event of the year is, of course, Manchester Pride, where we take part in both the parade and hold an outdoor dance event in the Village.
The club caters for all levels of dancers from Beginners to Advanced.
Beginners meets every Monday from 7.30 - 10.00 and Beginners/Intermidiate meet everyTuesday from 7.30 – 10.30.
All classes are held at the Thompsons Arms on Sackville Street.
Admission is £3.00 for guests and £2.00 for members (concessions are available).
When you visit us for the first time your entry is free.
